Case Carburizing, Hardening & Tempering is a multi-stage heat treatment process designed to improve the mechanical performance of steel components. During carburizing, carbon is diffused into the surface of low-carbon steel under controlled furnace conditions. The components are then hardened by quenching to transform the enriched case into a high-hardness martensitic structure. Finally, tempering relieves internal stresses and optimizes toughness without significantly reducing surface hardness.

This combination produces a hard outer layer that resists wear and contact fatigue while retaining a strong, shock-resistant core. The process is widely used for components subjected to repeated loading, rolling contact and abrasive operating conditions.
